32-Madeira (Portugal): 21-22 July 2014

21th July (Monday)

A majestic cruise ship in the harbor

Relaxing time between the sea and the public garden Almirante Reis
in Santa Maria’s Historical Nucleus (Old Quarter)

Funchal's Old Town, known to locals as Zona Velha

Photos taken from the car in in Rua de Santa Maria

We used to see this little old lady on her house door.
She was a beloved granny ready for the parties xD

At the living room Valentinas talking to a Korean woman who wanted to learn surf xD

My room: 214

22th July (Tuesday)

My bags are almost packed

My last day in Funchal was more about relaxing and resting

A bathing place next to the São Tiago Fortress (the yello building)

Good place to swim in Funchal

This is a beach without staff (lifeguards), responsible for determining the flag (green, yellow, red), but you have two fully-equipped bathrooms and small boats

This place transmits peace and serenity

Relaxed dogs on the seafront promenade

Almirante Reis garden

São Tiago Fortress, the yellow fortress found on the shore

São Tiago fortress is one of the most beautiful fortresses I've ever seen! The fortress is 400 years old. It has yellow walls and a great view over the sea. It’s now a museum with some paintings but the most interesting part of the visit is the fortress. It looks like a peaceful place. From the top of the fortress, you have a great view on the sea. Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine this place like a fighting place!

Back to the hotel to pick up luggage, and transfer to airport (but before going to the airport we went for a short walk and we took the latest photos together!)

Ponta de São Lourenço, one of the last nearly untouched places in Europe :)

Located in the eastern part of the island, this is the place where a fantastic combination of rocks, sea and nature created one of Mother Nature’s masterpieces

Lisbon! I could take som great photos of Lisbon from the plane

It's Almada, a city in the Sesimbra Region divided from Lisbon by the Tagus river

Lisbon is one of my favourite European cities

Landing in Lisbon!

Lisbon Airport

Pictures inside the airport

The airport is the main international gateway to Portugal and a major European hub. It's one of the largest and arguably better equipped airports in Western Europe for maintenance, navigation and air traffic control, having also been nominated as Europe's Leading Airport for five consecutive years in the World Travel Award

Sportive and stylish shoulder bag which I bought at the Lisbon Airport

This airport has a full range of modern airport facilities and is fully accessible
to disabled passengers, in addition to hosting myriad restaurants and bars
