24th June (Friday)

 The town at night

Skrapan in Västerås City

There are a very few hours of darkness during the summer

Very beautiful fountain

Beautiful colors in the fountain!

Empty streets

Nobody in the streets! This is not Spain xD

The City Hall of Västerås.

Svenska jordgubbar = Swedish strawberries.
Strawberry market in the street

Stora Torget, 7 (Main Square)

We visited the Västerås Cathedral, the oldest parts of which date back to the 13th century, is well worth a visit. Its art treasures and modern contrasts are unusual in a shrine of this kind

Inside the cathedral

The cathedral was extensively restored between 1958 and 1961 under the direction of Professor Erik Lundberg and many new pieces were installed, including the ceramic pulpit with its greenish-yellow glaze and the high altar with its masonry on the front that is reminiscent of hands clasped in prayer.

The cathedral is definitely worth a visit.
Summertime appointments for guided tours can be made between 11 am and 1 pm at the tourist office.

There are 163 intact gravestones in the cathedral and Erik XIV is buried here

The church organ

Västerås Cathedral has been awarded three stars by Guide Michelin, with the explanation ”worth making a detour for”. And I agree :-)

Statue outside Västerås Cathedral.
The statue of Johannes by Carl Mills (the most famous Swedish sculptor) stands in front of the cathedral (domkyrka in Swedish). The Mills statue has an angel whispering in Johannes ear Or, maybe Johannes is giving advice to the angel?

I was just fascinated in this pink color old building

Västerås along the river Svartån

This town is full of green areas perfect for walking, cycling and simply relaxing

One thousand rupees

Small playground for kids a lot of toys. In Spain these toys would disappear in 2 minutes!
