3-Sardinia (Italy) 18-19 September 2013

18th September (Wednesday)

Fifth day and plans to go to Poetto after class. I had arranged for Simona in Piazza Garibaldi to go to the beach but due to the bad weather we decided to go home

Aquí unas fotos de Billa y Maffi... Adorables!!!

 Beset by Billa xD

I hope Dante doesn't see this

In the afternoon we went to two large Chinese bazaars (there are many in Cagliari and in the nearby villages). In Quartu were several huge, with even two plants ... Something I've ever seen in Spain. Also some things were cheaper :-) We visited two large Chinese shops and I bought: a kitchen timer, a Juventus team clock, a giant alarm clock dei Bianconeri, several Sunglasses, another cup, a magnet over, etc.

Finally we went to dinner ... Pasta again, tutto buonissimo come sempre

Our return by car

Back home. I took a shower and got ready to meet with Veronica at 18 at the gate of the school. At 18 I got to school. I was the only one to go to the Serata Shopping with Veronica (addicted to shopping and very fashion forever). The first stop was very close to the school, Lady Aurea, next to the school (un posto of gioielli e accessori fashion). After looking at several things I bought a bracelet and these beautiful earrings

These pics were taken in Valencia when I arrived but I put them here to show what I bought

After a while in the store, we went to Via Garibaldi, the shopping area par excellence. We went first to a small shoe Outlet where I bought some Italian real leather shoes for less than 20 €! After trying several chose these gorgeous blue shoes

Then we went to a larger shoe store and bought other shoes (Desigual style) also authentic Italian leather. A reasonable price: 40 euros. These last and last...

After visiting several stores again, we went back to Piazza Yenne, one of the most important historical places of Cagliari ... There were little stalls on the street, with souvenirs, sunglasses, etc.

Before the "apericena", visited a shop called Bonu - Cose Buone dalla Sardegna in Largo Carlo Felice, 33. Bonu is a great little shop where you can find a vast variety of typical Sardinian products and handicrafts. From exquisite cheeses, such as the famous sheep cheese (pecorino) to the very popular dried roe (bottarga). They also have a good wine selection and Italian liquors to choose from such as mirto, limoncello, grappa and filu ‘e ferru just to name a few. Gift wrapping and shipping worldwide is available. I bought a Sardinian wine of the Mirto, Sardinian torrone and a tray of sweets. I forgot to buy the typical cheese!

I paid all the products to pick it up them  at the airport. They have an agreement with all the airlines (including Ryanair) with which allow you to go with several bags and don't put them in the bags ... There was no problem with it. So I paid and I kept the ticket. I just had to tell the date and time flight time and they sent them to the store they have at the airport

After shopping we continued walking. I took some CVs. I was advised to make it shorter, and I reduced from 7 to 2 pages, I but forgot to add the course I've done in Cagliari. Veronica, very friendly, accompanied me to several places (cafes, restaurants, etc.) downtown where many people go ... to deliver the CV ...

Later we went to eat something. We went to a place where you only pay for the drinks and have free buffet, known as "apericena". The truth is that there was little choice... but we ate fairly well ... There were things fish and vegetables, but also pasta, something meat and bread...

Elephant Tower (Torre dell'Elefante)

This mighty tower was built by architect Giovanni Capula in 1307 on the Castello hill, facing the sea. Along with the St Pancras and Eagle towers, it was intended to guard one of the main entrances to Castello and to bolster the city walls, which were being built in the same period. Elephant Tower occupied the most south-western point of the castle. Its dominant position is nowadays less apparent due to a number of civilian and military buildings which surround it, built in the 17th and 18th centuries

Similarly to the St Pancras Tower, it is made from local limestone and its wooden floors divide it in four levels. During the Aragonese domination, a wall on the northern side was built, allowing the tower to be used for storage and as a prison. On the southern wall of the tower a small statue of an elephant is still visible, hence the name of the site, as well as the original Pisan families' coats of arms. Admission €3, conc. €2. U7 not allowed for safety reasons
