Australia 15 (3-7 March 2011)

Pictures 3 - 7 March: My last days in Australia

3rd March (Thursday)
Dickson & I

Thursday afternoon on the Lake Monger with Naslhy, Dickson and Carolina. It's a great place for exercise, walking, seeing wildlife including majestic black swans and turtles

Lake Monger is a large urban wetland on the Swan Coastal Plain in suburban Perth, Western Australia nestled between the suburbs of Leederville, Wembley and Glendalough

If you have little ones with you then there are also three playgrounds in the parkland around the Lake; two are off Lake Monger Drive on the southern side of the Lake, the third at the north end off Dodd Road and this playground also has gas BBQ's

Less than five kilometres from the city of Perth and situated alongside the Mitchell Freeway, it runs approximately north-west to south-east towards the Swan River and consists of 70 hectares of mainly open shallow water with an island of 1.3 hectares in the south-west corner. The 110 hectares of lake and the surrounding parklands are known as the Lake Monger Reserve

The lake is used extensively for recreation and is a major tourist attraction with up to 12,000 visitors per week (Middle, 1988). Activities include bird watching and exercise

Wildlife in the lake

Black ducks

Relaxing zen atmosphere

A 3.5 km paved walking/cycling track encircles the lake which takes about 30 minutes to traverse by foot. Ample car parking, playground equipment and barbecue facilities are also provided

The place is designed so that you will relax, unwind and where time will stop still

Joking

It's the place for good conversations, laughter and relaxation

LOL

1, 2, 3... Smile!

I LOVE AUSTRALIAAAAAAAAAAAA

This is one of the three playgrounds, modern looking, sand based, shaded but no fence or gate.  It is set back from Lake Monger Drive but quite close to the lake so be warey if you have little one's prone to running off.  There is a BBQ, shaded picnic areas, benches and lots of shade from mature tress near this playground.  The toilets are a little further away along Lake Monger Drive

Jetty on East Bank. An observation deck on the shore of Lake Monger.
Another jetty and rest area, this time on the east side of the lake :)

A jetty which is a nice stop off point to check out the fish, wildlife and views of the city

Walking Track

Part of the walking track on the eastern side of the lake, not far from the Mitchell Freeway. It's a great walk around the lake. Total distance is approximately 3.5 kilometres and at ambling pace can be completed in under 90 minutes. An easy walk

There's plenty of shade from mature trees on this part of the walk

Exhausted xD

Rewiew of Lake Monger Reserve, Lake Monger Drive, Wembley

At home

Mullaloo Beach Perth: my last day before go back I went to the beach with Ana, Naslhy, Cristina and her daughter

Mullaloo is a northern coastal suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Joondalup. The Mullaloo Surf Life Saving club patrols around 4.5 km of beach between Pinnaroo Point and Whitfords Point, between September and April. The club has row teams, swim teams, board teams and sprint teams

Wonderful club beach!

Mullaloo is perfect for a calm morning enjoying the pristine sand and clean ocean. It has a very long shore break so the waves simply lap at the shore most of the morning and early afternoon. As with most beaches, it does get quite windy in the afternoon, but then watching the windsurfers nearby is great fun. It's the long, shallow entry that I like most of all to gradually get in. Soooo relaxing!

Training for a surf rescue?

Loving the Australian life...

My experience in Australia was so incredible! I improved my English, I made friends and I really enjoyed the life in this wonderful country. I enjoyed every second of this travel, it was an adventure intensely lived, I took advantage of my free time, enjoying the pleasures of the moment and taking every day as a gift! Australia and Australian people will be always in my heart. <3 And of course, I'm very grateful to the Eurocentres Perth for all the great moments living together. And I'm grateful to the other friends I've made there.
