AQUARIUM VISIT

AQWA: The Aquarium of Western Australia

23 January 2011. Sunday, perfect day to go to the Aquarium

Sorrento Quay Beach. This is a well-protected beach for kids. Safe for them

Marina seafoods and snacks. There are many places to eat near the Aquarium

Sorrento Quay at Hillarys Boat Harbour there're restaurants and cafes, great shopping, live entertainment and a fantastic holiday atmosphere, all located in a beautiful marina with a safe, sheltered swimming beach. There’s always lots to see and do at Sorrento Quay

Let's go shopping at Sorrento Quay Boardwalk!

AQWA is a privately owned aquarium in Hillarys, Western Australia. AQWA was Australia's largest aquarium when it opened and still possesses Australia's largest single aquarium and walk-through underwater tunnel

AQWA  is extremely popular, being located on the northern Sunset Coast and within easy reach of Perth, by train, bus or car

I took a lot of pictures inside the Aquarium

AQWA is divided into five areas that reflect the unique marine environments and life found in distinct regions of WA's coast: Great Southern Coast, Perth Coast, Marmion Marine Park, Shipwreck Coast and Far North

Time to eat something

In AQWA Cafe, enjoying delicious snacks and drinks with magnificant views of Hillarys Marina. The staff were thoughtful and kind, like everyone in Australia :-)

We reached the beach and devoted ourselves to enjoying the end of the afternoon at that
fantastic site

The blue-green lake makes a perfect picture

AUSTRALIA DAY

Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip. In contemporary Australia, celebrations reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation, and are marked by community and family events, reflections on Australian history, official community awards, and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new immigrants into the Australian community.

Japanese friends :-)

Going to Kings Park

Pics in Kings Park. Typical Australia Day activities include barbecues, picnic, sporting events, outdoor concerts and festivals (like Big Day Out), and fireworks

We went to the Kings Park (Aika and two Japanese friends of her) and we met there with other mates to spend the day

For most of Australians, Australia Day means a fun day off work and a big party to celebrate the founding of the country

Lot of people go to the park this day

Flags at the heart of the business district in Perth

The Forrest Centre is regarded as one of the most prestigious business addresses in Perth and is located on the Western end of St George's Terrace in the heart of Perth's CBD

High buildings

Central Park is a 51-storey office tower in Perth, Western Australia. The building measures 226 m (741 ft) from its base at St Georges Terrace to the roof, and 249 m (817 ft) to the tip of its communications mast. Upon its completion in 1992, the tower became the tallest building in Perth. It is also currently the Eighth tallest building in Australia and the tallest building in the Western half of Australia

We entered into a local to drink something and I changed my clothes...  I was dressed in the Australian flag xD. Photo taken in 5/731 Hay St

Hundreds of thousands of people celebrating this day

Picnics, music, fireworks,... everything to celebrate Australia Day

I love that dress!!!

Australia Day Fireworks: Perth's biggest event, with over 350.000 people gathering in Kings Park and along the Swan River to watch the 30.000 fireworks that light up the city skies at 20:00 on Australia Day, 26 January. The fireworks and laser display are launched from the city skyscrapers, the Swan Bell Tower, the Narrows Bridge and from barges on the river. They are choreographed to music on Perth Radio Station Mix 94.5. The show normally lasts around 30 minutes. We saw the fireworks next to the Swan Bell Tower

This is Australia's biggest community celebration of the National Day, with Perth's skyline exploding with sound, light and spectacular colours for the annual City of Perth Australia Day fireworks display

Enjoying the spectacular fireworks in the city, near the Swan Bell Tower

I never expected to see that many people together for this event but I understand it because it's a wonderful event

Night on the town... Going to the train station to go home. 26 January was an unforgettable day, no doubt... From morning to night it was wonderful.
It will remain on my mind forever

Thursday 27-1-2011
Today we're going to the CITY BEACH

The photo below shows Floreat Forum is a Double Supermarket shopping centre located in the leafy suburb of Floreat located halfway between Perth's CBD and the coast

In City Beach looking for the beach xD.
City Beach has two major beaches (Floreat Beach and "City Beach") as well as a dog beach. Each of those beaches has its own competitive surf lifesaving club with all the associated facilities.

City Beach!

City Beach is a beachside suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the Town of Cambridge

The sand is white/yellow and soft, making it an ideal surface for the beach volleyball courts and matkot. The main swimming and surfing area is protected between two groynes and it is overlooked by lawns

Playing and having a fun time with mates

Now we are going to rest
