Australia 6 (6 February 2011) Caversham Wildlife Park

VISIT CAVERSHAM WILDLIFE PARK (6th February 2011)

On 6th February was a wonderful Sunday in Caversham Wildlife Park. One of the best days in my life,  It was one of the coolest things I have ever done and I loved every second of it... Caversham Wildlife Park is located inside Whiteman Park, a recreation and conservation reserve

We were arriving ... Caversham Wildlife Park is only 30 minutes from Perth city

Caversham Wildlife Park is a unique property full of many native Australian wildlife. A real Australian animal experience in the wildlife park. I fed the kangaroos and I walked with them, I touched the koalas and I saw a lot of different animals! A dream made true

At the entrance of the park

First pictures

The park is a special and unique place for West Australia as it offers an interactive, clean and well maintained environment. You have the chance to get up very close to most of the animals in the park.
We started off the day by petting and feeding baby kangaroos, and it just got better from there. After the kangaroos, we saw and got to pet a variety of other animals like possums, wombats, wallabies,  baby joeys...

Inside the park you can find a kangaroo environment and wander around to take photos, feed and carefully pat these marsupials. The kangaroos are fairly friendly and they hop around from one end to another, they also laze around in the hot weather

Feeding a kangaroo!

The kangaroos have powerful legs and tails. When you visit the park and get up close to this majestic animal you can see just how strong they are

I became impressed with them! They're so friendly and quiet...

But there is much more than just kangaroos to see at the park and that includes native birds, koalas, llamas, donkeys, dingoes, possums, bats, wombats, owls, emus, etc. There are daily shows and an interactive farm yard for kids to see

Molly’s Farm is an interactive farm yard, suitable for people of all ages! Animal food is provided – help yourself! The animals are very friendly! You can take as many photos as you like, with your own camera – no charge!

The Farm Show is going to startThere are a number of interactive shows each day including the "Farm Show" and "Meet Wombats and Friends Show" (unfortunately we couldn't go to the wombats show where you can get up close to various animals including a wombat, kangaroos, cockatoos and snakes, and have opportunities to be photographed with the animals)

Sarah (left), Supanee (middle), me (right) sitting and waiting for the show.
At the Farm Show you can see sheep shearing, sheep dogs demonstrations, stockmen on horseback, swinging the billy, whip cracking, feeding lambs and cattle milking. There are also camel rides (additional cost) and an interactive farmyard where you can wander around with the farm animals, and feed them with food provided by the staff

Sheeps are coming

Just nice before the show begins

Farm show is starting.  There are daily shows at 10am, 1pm and 3pm

Trained dogs with the sheeps

Sheep shearing at a farm show.
They explained the history of sheep shearing and do a live demo as well

Australian flag and Western Australian flag :D

All this wool (in 1 piece mind you) came from shearing just 1 sheep. Such skill!

Here is the stockman showing off the whip and explaining how the whip curves when you swing it and the snapping sound, is because the whip is curve is moving faster than the speed of sound and it flicks out the end, producing the sound

As part of the show, they get kids to volunteer to participate in the lamb feeding competition. This part was really cute the stockman said it’s a race, and we’re going to see who can drink their milk the fastest

A peacock... He refused to pose for the photo

Pink-eared turtle is also known as the northern Red-faced turtle. Mostly found in north-west WA and northern Territory

I love dingoes. Dingoes are found all across Australia, except for Tasmania

The Dingo is a primitive dog which evolved from the Indian Wolf

Beautiful European red fox!

White dingoes

Belowe we can see a Long-nosed Potoroo. This animal is a member of the superfamily Macropodoidea which includes Bettongs, Potoroos, Kangaroos and all species of Wallaby. The subfamily Potoroinae includes the smaller members, including four species of Potoroo

Ducks

FINALLY! What is more Australian than kangaroos and koalas?!

Getting closer to my favourite zone :-)

The highlight animals of the park: KOALAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSS. As you can imagine, we were really excited! The first time I saw koalas in live was at Madrid Zoo but behind a glass and quite far... I think a koala should never leave Australia, its national habitat

The workers of this park said that they no longer allow you to hold the koalas because it causes them an unnecessary stress BUT they do allow people to touch them. Sounded good enough for us! It was cool to see them and take pics next to them! It was one of my dreams since I was a little girl

Koalas are only active for around two hours a day and get all their fluids from eating eucalyptus leaves

HOW CUTEEEEE!!!!!!

Impossible not to love them

Can you guess what is my favourite animal?

This is me touching a koala! AHHHHH!!!! I'll keep these moments in my mind forever

Authentic teddy koalaaaaaaaa

Cuddling this soft creature. Wonderful, amazing, I was just excited and so happy cause I was making a dream come true <3

I couldn't believe it!!!

Definitely I wanna be a koala caretaker!

A luxury to see them awake!

This was the best moment! We were actually able to see the koalas awake and moving (which is a pretty rare event considering they sleep almost 20 hours per day)!

Sweetieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Awwwwwwwwww

Eating eucalyptus!

A sweet wombat! The last animal that we saw before leaving the amazing Caversham Wildlife Park

And then, of course, we went to the Souvenir Shop. I bought some of these koalas :-)
Souvenir Shop offers a wide range of Australian souvenirs, including emu & ostrich eggs, leather products, books, clothing, soft toys, collectables, jewellery, skin care products, local honey and much more!

Out of the Caversham... Whiteman Park Mini Water Playground.
This is the kiddies pool  of the Whiteman Park. Opens daily from 10-5pm in summer!

Whiteman Park is a 4,000-hectare (9,900-acre; 15 sq mi) bushland area located 22 km (14 mi) north of Perth, Western Australia. The park is in the suburb of Whiteman, in the Swan Valley in the upper reaches of the Swan River

I was so impressed after this visit. Caversham Wildlife Park is absolutely amazing. The animals are well cared for and the facilities well maintained, is a clean park with big free areas where you can roam with the animals. You can feel how wonderful they are... I'm sure I'll never forget this incredible day!!!

Returning at home. My animals housemates :-)
