Kangaroos at Perth City Council

The statues, named "Kangaroos on the Terrace" were sculptured by Joan Walsh-Smith and Charles Smith in 1997 at Stirling Gardens

Council House is a 13-storey office building on St Georges Terrace.
Located beside Stirling Gardens and Government House in the city's central business district, the 47.9-metre (157 ft) building was designed by Howlett and Bailey Architects and opened by The Queen in 1963, after Perth hosted the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. For most of its history, it has served as the headquarters for the City of Perth

Tuesday 1st February
Cultural day with my friend Aika

We're visiting The Perth Cultural Centre

The Perth Cultural Centre is an area of central Perth, Western Australia centred on the James Street Mall. The area is home to a number of cultural institutions including the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Western Australian Museum, State Library of Western Australia, State Records Office, State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, and Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA)

This sculpture, "The Caller" that sits on the path leading through the Perth Cultural Centre towards the Art gallery has always caught my attention. The theme of "The Caller" is the plight of torture victims

The Perth Cultural Centre Precinct is bound by Roe Street, Aberdeen Street, Beaufort Street and William Street in the suburb of Perth. A walkway connects the Cultural Centre to Perth railway station

Art Gallery of Western Australia, a public gallery that is part of the Perth Cultural Centre.
It's located near the Western Australian Museum and State Library of Western Australia

The State Library of Western Australia is a research, reference and public lending library located in the Perth Cultural Centre in Perth. The State Library has particular responsibility for collecting and preserving Western Australia's documentary heritage. The J. S. Battye Library of West Australian History is the section of the library dedicated to West Australiana

It has six main sites: in Perth within the Perth Cultural Centre, two in Fremantle (Maritime and Shipwreck Galleries), and one each in Albany, Geraldton, and Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The Western Australian Museum is a statutory authority within the Culture and the Arts Portfolio, established under the Museum Act 1969

The Western Australian Museum shop stocks all of the Museum's publications, as well as a wide variety of books, toys, merchandise, jewellery, gifts, homewares, merchandise and much more ...I bought this book really cheap!

Another iconic building that has been at the heart of Perth City for many many years. The Perth Post Office is located in this building

The Loreto Lounge is located right in the centre of Northbridge - Perth's food, culture and arts suburb, in the heart of Perth City. The area is a favourite with locals and tourists alike, popular for its clubs, restaurants, bars and night scene. Situated on the corner of William Street and Francis Street, the restaurant is easily recognisable to passer-bys by the iconic bell tower that sits just outside premises

At the afternoon in the city visiting souvenirs shops and getting ready to celebrate Aika's birthday tonight :-) (her birthday is on 5th February but she celebrates it today in Mustang Bar because it's Wednesday and there is free beer)

I bought one of these albums. I couldn't avoid it!

In Australia isn't strange walking barefoot... And I did it, this is the proof of the crime xD

Before going to the Mustang Bar, we went to a Japanese restaurant in Subiaco

Waiting for the dinner...

Lorenzo, Aika, Maite, Shin Jun Soo

I don't like Japanese food but this is one of the best Asian restaurants in Perth. The food is authentic and, actually, they doesn't have the tourist style menu and such. They use traditional authentic sauces, the yakatori is cooked proper japanese style on little brick open grill style fire pits and good taste... They're a credit to japanese food in Perth, with a small menu packed with flavour

Dinner with chopsticks... Learning to use them... It was my first time xD

Lorenzo... very peculiar man XD

Using chopsticks properly!

Bon apettit!!!

Honestly I prefer Italian food...but Japanese food is so healthy

OMG...

Statue "Unidentified Photographer"
The life size bronze figure of the "Unidentified Photographer" is located at the top of St George's Terrace next to the Barracks Arch. The bronze was created by Anne Neil in collaboration with Greg James in 1996.

The statue looking down the Terrace is a reflection of times gone by and an acknowledgement of the people who helped shape the city and State. The modern dressed "unidentified Photographer" is holding a Box Brownie camera and photographic plates whilst his Gladstone bag at his feet contains various trade tools symbolic of all the professionals who once worked on the Terrace.

4 February (Friday)
KAYAKING DAY ON THE SWAN RIVER

This Memory of Migrants to Australia (picture below),  was erected to remember and honour all migrants who have come to Australia from many parts of the World. Their hardships and perseverance have contributed to the growth and development of this nation. The migrant monument will be here for generations to come helping foster an appreciation and understanding in the meaning and courage of the migrant.
Supported either side by the Australian and the Italian flags, it certainly makes for an interesting entrance to our CBD.

This statue/memorial is located on the eastern foreshore of the Swan River, immediately adjacent to the Perth city CBD. Reaching the statue involves a 5-10 minute walk from the more populated areas of the city, through some slightly scruffy bushland.

It's next to the Lake Vasto, the expansive lake that runs through the Langley Park. Fostering the sister city relationship between Perth and Vasto in Italy, it was named in 2004 by the Lord Mayor of Perth and the Mayor of Vasto. The lake supports a variety of birdlife and brings the gentle and relaxing sounds of birds into the city

Address: Ozone Reserve, Riverside Drive, Perth

Langley Park is an open space in the central business district of Perth, Western Australia. Running alongside Riverside Drive, it is grassed, rectangular in shape and has dimensions 900 x 100 m (3000 x 300 ft). It was created by reclaiming land from the adjacent Swan River between 1921 and 1935, to provide open space near the city

Daniele & I

Today Kayak hire on the Swan! Exploring the Swan River on a double kayak is a great way to start the day!

Looking for something different to do with your spare time? Kayaking is an enjoyable activity for anyone seeking a little bit of time to unwind, explore, play, exercise or cruise the river at their own speed. Unfortunately Kayaks are quite expensive to buy but thankfully at About Bike Hire you can hire kayaks for a low cost.
"About Bike Hire" is located in Point Fraser Reserve (POINT FRASER City Of Perth Carpark),
305 Riverside Drive

ABH operates from the Point Fraser Reserve Carpark, just two minutes from the city. You can kayak as far as your time allocation allows - however for one hour you have to stick around the Heirisson Island area to the first upstream bridge

ABH has single and double kayaks starting from affordable prices. The Kayaks are all good quality builds from well respected brands Finn, Dolphinn, Gizmo, Malibu and Pacific. They have kayaks for many different uses including touring, performance and fishing

The hire shop has safe holds for all your non-waterproof belongings too. A small refundable bond and photo ID is required to make sure you don't paddle off with the yak, but all in all it's one of the best cheap ways to have fun and try something you may have never experienced otherwise

The touring and fishing kayaks are built for stability and are very hard to roll over unintentionally (statement is void if your mates are around). The touring comes in a two-seater option - perfect for romantic, adventurous and fun paddles around Heirison Island or for young kids to paddle with the safety of parents on board

Performance kayaks were very light and easily manoeuvrable, providing great entertainment for a bunch of mates, and good exercise for those looking to spice up their daily fitness routine.

Two-seater option was our favourite. This  double kayak resulted very stable and high-performing ^_^

Starting the race :-)

A fun way to explore this waterfront city

Kayak hire is a great way to have cheap fun and exercise

This was our first kayaking experience and we did it quite well

Taking pictures from the kayak :D

'Selfies' while kayaking

The side of the causeway you can't see from a car

Good temperature of the water and a perfect sunny day

Kayaking is a great sport for connecting with nature

From the kayak, everything seemed larger, or maybe I felt much smaller, almost insignificant

These tours offer wide open spaces and scenic landscapes while enjoying the fabulous Swan River. The tours are bursting with wonderful photo opportunities

Kayaking is a great alternative to conventional fitness training

 Opponents near us!

Enjoying this fantastic adventure =()

Lying on the kayak xD

Windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing and sailing are frequent sports in Perth.
Anyone can practice these activities and I did it in different days.
The most difficult it's without any doubt, windsurfing

Finishing the course well

We've come!

Kayaking was a memorable holiday experience. I would recommend it to everyone
