Perth International Arts Festival
Living the night...
The 'Festival of Perth' was founded in 1953 by Professor Fred Alexander, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, whose vision of 'a festival for the people' continues to this day.
The Festival began as a community arts experiment of the then Adult Education Board and has developed into the most wonderful, creative partnership between The University of Western Australia and the community.
The Perth International Arts Festival remains one of the most exciting arts festivals in our nation, and the world, and is the oldest international arts festival in Australia
The Festival is always an extravaganza of music, movement and fireworks. Every year the free opening astounds and mesmerises audiences of all ages
Perth Festival opening fireworks and theatre performance. This free public event ran over three nights at Langley Park, easing up the crowds experienced in past years
Every summer, the University’s Perth International Arts Festival brings some of the world's best theatre, dance, music, visual arts and literature to an audience of more than 300.000 people
