Regional Arts Week 16-22 June 2014

Exposição Regional de Expressão Plástica / Regional Plastic Arts Exhibition

A few days ago the trees along Av. Arriaga were being decorated as part of art week. Schools around the island have made decorations by recycling plastic bags, bottle tops, plastic bottles, as well as fabrics. They are so colourful and ingenious, obviously the children have put a lot of work in. Well worth a visit but remember to take a camera.

The Regional Arts Week, is an event of the responsibility of the Education and Human Resources/Regional Bureau for Education/Ensemble of the Artistic Education Department, which is introduced for the second time in the Atlantic Festival’s programme. The Regional Arts Week includes several events: Party in the Garden; Meetings of Art Forms; Regional Plastic Arts Exhibition and ESCOLartes (the Art of Schools)

The range of the intervention has been extended and currently comprises a universe that goes from the pre-school to high school education. In this context, and considering the importance of overture of schools to the arts, from the stage experience to the relationship towards the public, to show the lessons learnt and the acquired skills during school, through various actions that take place in the downtown area

The program includes several artistic performances in the areas of Chant, Drama / Theatre, Instrumental, Chordophones Traditional Madeiran and Dance, in addition to the Regional Exhibition of Artistic Expression, which includes painting contest. This event, on its third edition, provides the partaking of artistic experiences and work of about 4000 students of the local primary schools and secondary schools, in collaboration with several groups in the field of Special Education, consolidation bonds between local schools and the community, in a perspective of social openness

Throughout the month of June, the city of Funchal fills up with diverse entertainment. I liked very much this plastic art exhibition in Avenida Arriaga. I think it's important to encourage and give an incentive to the creativity of the students and it's nice to see the result of the collective efforts in the streets. I've never seen this before and I really appreciate it. This is art! The Funchal tree art is
