Going for a ride by car

We went to a Pingo Doce supermarket in Urbanização da Penteada

Pingo Doce is  the best and cheapest supermarket in Portugal. We used to buy there

I found some foods and drinks that aren't sold in Spain. They have Fanta Maracujá

Restaurante Tourigalo da Achada - São Pedro (zona da Achada) Caminho Achada 7

The restaurant from the outside. We used to go to another Tourigalo (take-away restaurant) in Caminho de São Martinho but this time we went here

São Pedro, civil parish located in the northern part of Sé and central to the municipality, surrounded by the parishes of Santo António, Santa Luzia, Imaculado Coração de Maria, São Roque and São Martinho

Externato Escola São João in São Pedro.
A religious school where Cristiano Ronaldo studied

We spent the afternoon in Monte, Funchal

Monte is a civil parish in the municipality and a suburb of Funchal. Locally, the parish is also known as Nossa Senhora do Monte (English: Our Lady of the Mountain)

Monte is located a few kilometres east of Funchal

Rainy afternoon

In this setting, full of mystery and charm I felt like in a movie

Under a heavy fog

Houses Villas. There's a lot of superb villas in Monte

Perfect to shoot a scary film

Majestic mansions surrounded by this mysterious scenery

Our walking tour

The family. Andreia took the picture

Monte is noted for its older gardens and greenspaces,
with exotic plants and flowers, some open to the public

Monte is served by inclined cable car to Funcal and the Botanical Gardens

There are no words to describe how beautiful it is

Monte Palace Tropical Gardens situated on the beautiful hilltop of Monte surrounded by stunning views over Funchal's bay. Just amazing!!!

Enjoying its wooded slopes, cool places and the fantastic views of Monte

Andreia and I sharing funny moments

Largo da Fonte (Fountain Square)
The Largo da Fonte, shadowed by leafy plane trees, includes a bandstand built in 1890, and the Fountain of the Virgin built in marble and grey stone in 1897, after the old one was destroyed by the fall of a chestnut tree in 1896. The fountain has a niche with the image of Nossa Senhora do Monte making it a site of great devotion for the local people

The emblematic bandstand

The Café do Parque is a café-souvenir shop not far from Capela de Nossa Senhora

Fountain of the Virgin

Here is the niche with the image of Nossa Senhora do Monte

Still in Largo da Fonte, we can find two sculptures in bronze: the bust of Priest José Marques Jardim and a panel in homage to the “Carreiros”, the men who transport the tourists in toboggans down the hill until Funchal
