My first Sunday in Funchal! We decided to go to Lido area. My 3 friends and their mother.

Promenade do Lido
The Promenade do Lido is a seaside walking trail that stretches from the Lido area all the way to Praia Formosa, which is also known as heart of Funchal´s hotel zone

Restaurants, cafés, leisure areas such as parks and public swimming pools are easily accessed by the promenade
Since the opening of a new coastal promenade, the Lido area in Funchal, already well known for the many tourist facilities it offers, developed even more into an extensive leisure zone much appreciated by locals as well as tourists
Lined with palm trees and bordered by splendid botanical gardens, this promenade links the Lido area with the pebbled Praia Formosa beach at the western end of Funchal, offering breathtaking views over the sea and towards Cabo Girão to all those who stroll, walk or run along there …or who just relax on one of the many benches!
Taking a nice stroll along the Lido promenade and enjoying the picturesque scenery it offers us! This promenade is safe to walk in day and night. Madeira Island is considered the safest island in the world!
You can go for a swim in the sea or just sunbathe... All along this promenade there are several opportunities to enjoy these activities. There are three public swimming pools – the Lido swimming pool complex with the largest seawater pool, the Clube Naval and the recently opened Ponta Gorda swimming pool complex – all of which offer extensive leisure facilities with seawater and separate children’s pools, sea access, sports activities, restaurants, snack bars, etc…all you need for spending a relaxing day at the sea front!

Avenida do Mar. Here you can see a place where you can buy a bolo do caco and we did it! :-) My friends invited me to try this good cake but we ate it at home ^^
Catia buying the bolos! Bolo do caco is a bread that is circular like a cake and thus called bolo (cake in Portuguese). It is a flat circular bread, traditionally cooked on a Caco, a flat basalt stone slab. The bread is usually served simply with Garlic butter and is usually eaten as a sandwich with octopus, Espetada, Milho Frito and also used as the bread for the Prego Sandwich (Portuguese steak sandwich). It's typical in Madeira and I loved it! But it has too many calories!!!

If you’re a fan of bazaars inspired by the French department stores, you’ll find everything you’ve always dreamed perfumes, fabrics, gift ideas. This shopping center enchanted me and satisfied all my cravings. And the prices were quite cheap in comparison with other stores
