Saturday morning. Andreia, Caty, Micaela and I starting our adventure :)
I can assure that my friend Andreia is an expert driver... I saw her driving on paths and uneven streets. Here we were going to Cabo Girão through narrow and high paths. Cabo Girão is a lofty sea cliff located along the southern coast of the island of Madeira
OMG... Views from the car
Cabo Girão is a popular lookout point, especially after a glass-floored viewing platform was installed in October 2012.The location is a popular starting point for hikers
It's situated less than two kilometres west from the centre of Câmara de Lobos, between the parishes of Quinta Grande and Câmara de Lobos
CABO GIRÃO VIEWPOINT
It's the highest cape in Europe, at an elevation of 580 m,
and is famous for its suspended glass platform
The Cabo Girão viewpoint, situated on the highest promontory in Europe, at an elevation of 580 m, offers a vertiginous view of the fajãs of Rancho and Cabo Girão – small areas of cultivated land at the foot of the cliff – as well as magnificent panoramic views over the ocean and the municipalities of Câmara de Lobos and Funchal
The viewpoint has been renovated,
and a suspended glass platform, called a skywalk, was built
It's an excellent spot to practice paragliding and base jumping. Recently, the Portuguese parachutist Mário Pardo performed a spectacular motorcycle leap here. Nearby is the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Fátima (Our Lady of Fátima), built in 1951 and one of the main pilgrimage sites of the island
If you have fear of heights better don't do that!!!
The viewpoint is a balcony with a see-through glass floor
Spectacular views from the skywalk

I was totally impressed over this glass skywalk :O

We enjoyed a lot in the Europe's Highest Cliff Skywalk. An incredible experience!
We got into the car again
Ribeira Brava!
Ribeira Brava is a municipality located along the southern coast (approximately center), and is west of Câmara de Lobos and the regional capital Funchal
We went to Snack Bar Buondi Caffè in Rua Comandante Camacho de Freitas at the seaside
Ribeira Brava (Wild River) is named after its river; when it rains heavily in the mountains, waters rapidly run down to sea. It's a small town on the southwestern coast of the island with steep valleys on either side and is a very pleasant tourist stop
Between sea and mountains
By the sea but protected from the Atlantic waves for safe swimming is a man-made black sandy beach, children’s swimming pool and promenade with cafes, snack bar and restaurants where you can spend a quiet and enjoyable afternoon :-)
Walking through the Seafront Promenade
Enjoying the peace of this beautiful place
Brava Gift Shop in Rua Gago Coutinho e Sacadura Cabral
I always try to travel as light as I can, because
I'm a bit addicted to buying souvenirs and extra clothing... xD
More souvenir shops...
Bazar Dragoeiro in Rua do Visconde. I bought more souvenirs here!
Rua dos Camachos
Hanging Pinocchios at souvenirs shop
Câmara Municipal (Town Hall) de Ribeira Brava
I bought t-shirts, keychains, etc.
Adéus Ribeira Brava!!!
Going to Porto Moniz...
Long road along the sea
We found many driving tunnels before arriving
We finally arrived!!! Porto Moniz!!! One of the best places in Madeira
Porto Moniz is a municipality in the northwest corner of the island of Madeira.
It's located west of Santana and Machico, and northwest of Funchal
Hotel Euro Moniz
In Porto Moniz you can visit the natural Swimming Pools, the Aquarium,
the Live Science Centre and the Exhibition Cachalote
Mar À Vista restaurant in Rua das Alfarrobeiras
Vintage and classic cars competition
Madeira Aquarium was opened in 2004 in Porto Moniz. It's housed in the São João Baptista Fort, which was built to protect Porto Moniz from raiding Moors. The aquarium has about 70 different species of sea animals distributed in 11 tanks
Porto Moniz seems to have fallen from above into the northern sea
I cannot explain how beautiful it is!!!! Heaven on earth
The natural pools of Porto Moniz are the highlight of the village
The natural bathing pools surrounded by bizarre lava rocks and filled by the tide with crystal clear water are undoubtedly the main attraction of Porto Moniz
Not only for their excellent bathing conditions but also for their beauty, these natural pools are the perfect place for relaxing, swimming, sunbathing or even just for a visit
This bathing complex also provides a kindergarten and facilities for the disabled. Further facilities are: Changing rooms with lockers to keep personal belongings, excellent shower rooms, a snack bar, a first aid centre and a car park. Five lifeguards watch over the safety of the bathers
Whether you intend to sunbathe and swim or not, everyone should visit Porto Moniz
and discover one of the most breathtaking sceneries on the island!
Porto Moniz Castle
Behind me is the Restaurante Cachalote. It's distinguished for its construction on the volcanic rocks surrounded by the sea which also originated the natural pools and thus giving it a natural rare beaut
The highlight of the day for me was the visit to Porto Moniz
I took a lot of amazing pictures because this place this is a fascinating and unique location!
Centro Ciência Viva do Porto Moniz
Before returning home we went to a restaurant in Porto Moniz
Route between Porto Moniz and São Vicente
And our final stop was in São Vicente, located on the north side of the island
set in one of the most beautiful valleys of Madeira
set in one of the most beautiful valleys of Madeira
The northern side of the island is wild, with steep mountains providing strong background to the scenery road. S. Vicente is the easiest access either eastbound or westbound, usually functioning as the starting point to two alternative circuits
S. Vicente is a village full of enchantments
Natural Madeira rock beach (São Vicente). The town of São Vicente is fast becoming popular with surfers thanks to a pebble beach with excellent conditions where many surfers from all over Europe go to ride the waves

Going back to Funchal
T-shirts and souvenirs that I bought in Ribeira Brava...
